Why invest in start-ups?

Startups have always been an exciting playing field for investors, but for a long time it belonged primarily to the “big players” in the industry. In recent years, however, new models such as crowdfunding and digital investment platforms have opened up the market to private investors. But what makes this high-risk adventure so appealing - for industry giants and private individuals alike?

Potentially high returns

Startups with great potential can grow enormously within a short period of time. Those who invest early have the opportunity to benefit from these growth rates to an above-average extent.

Startups open up new markets and solve challenges that established companies often fail to tackle. These investments offer investors the opportunity to position themselves in promising growth areas.

How can you invest in startups?

You can invest in startups as a business angel, via venture capital funds or through crowdinvesting. Investing via profit participation rights is particularly exciting, as they combine the advantages of the various approaches and are ideal for newcomers thanks to their low entry hurdle.

  1. As a business angel, you have the opportunity to invest directly in startups and help shape strategic decisions. This method not only offers potentially high returns, but also close collaboration with the founding team. However, this requires large sums of capital and a considerable amount of time.

  2. Venture capital funds, on the other hand, offer access to a professionally managed portfolio put together by experienced fund managers. These funds enable investments in high-caliber startups, but are usually only accessible with high minimum investments and are often exclusively available to a closed circle of investors.

  3. Crowdinvesting offers an easier entry point and enables investments from as little as €250 to €1,000. However, there is no direct influence on strategic decisions and the start-ups available are often less attractive, as crowdinvesting is often used as a last resort financing channel.

But there is an alternative that combines the advantages of these approaches:
